  1. HIERO.SFT is an 18 point proportionally spaced Hieroglyphics soft font.

  3. The batch file TESTFONT.BAT will print out a two page sample showing the
  4. characters defined for each ASCII value. The ASCII values without characters
  5. next to them are unassigned. Characters at ASCII value 160 and above are
  6. intended for stacking hieroglyphs one on top of another. To illustrate, if this
  7. note is printed after TESTFONT.BAT has loaded the HIERO.SFT font, the following
  8. line will include stacked hieroglyphs:

  13. HIERO.SFT was created by using FONTEDIT, which is a font editor for HP LaserJet
  14. soft fonts. With FONTEDIT, you can change the bit map for any character in any
  15. LaserJet bit-mapped font. For instance, you could make a mirror image of the
  16. font so that all figures face rightward. Or you could print the hieroglyphs in
  17. a column format by rotating each character and making the font landscape.

  19. Naturally, FONTEDIT has many more features, such as:
  20.  
  21.     -  Smoothly change the point size of your bit-mapped fonts, just like you
  22.        can do with scalable Postscript outline fonts.
  23.  
  24.     -  Special effects: mirror image, drop shadow, make hollow, rotate, make
  25.        thinner, upside down, slant, tilt, resize   ...   and more!

  27.     -  Sculpt individual pixels of a character, or regions of pixels such as
  28.        rectangular, circle, ellipse, parallelogram, or arbitrary polygon
  29.        regions.

  31.     -  Import characters from other soft fonts, or from black & white .PCX or
  32.        .TIF. For instance, you could scan a company logo and make a character
  33.        in a soft font out of it. Or make a font out of your handwriting! (I've
  34.        made a font just this way from my handwriting)

  37. FONTEDIT requires VGA/EGA/CGA/Herc, or AT&T video, and at least 256K RAM. A
  38. mouse is optional.

  41. shareware demo version is available by writing to me, or by downloading file
  42. #28968 from the IBM PC files on GENIE. A version for the HP DeskJet is also
